Description
Sour Ales are a unique and increasingly popular style of beer known for their tart and acidic flavor profiles. Unlike traditional ales, which tend to have a more balanced flavor profile, Sour Ales are intentionally brewed to exhibit a distinct sourness that sets them apart.
The sourness in these beers is achieved through a process called souring, where the brewing yeast is combined with certain strains of bacteria, such as Lactobacillus or Pediococcus. These bacteria produce lactic acid or other organic acids during fermentation, resulting in the characteristic tartness and acidity of Sour Ales.
